Geese on Your Property

Geese are not a welcomed addition to your land, neighborhood or commercial property. Their droppings are disgusting and they can be aggressive to people in the area. They can also damage beautiful grassy areas and crops. These protected birds need to leave your property. We are here to help drive them away.

Why to Remove Geese

Geese can be beautiful to look at but the reality of these birds living on your property is not beautiful at all. These protected creatures create large amounts of droppings, every twenty minutes. The droppings cause odor and carry bacteria that can be harmful to humans. Contamination can occur in the soil or in water used for swimming or drinking. They may return every year or stay permanently if you let them. Dog Hazing is the most effective way to get them to leave.

Why is Dog Hazing Effective

Geese, like most animals, want to avoid predators. This is particularly true when they are protecting their young. Wolves, foxes and coyotes have always been seen as predators by geese. Certain dog breeds have qualities that make the geese think they are wolves. While many dog breeds can be used, the Border Collie is a great choice because they have piercing eyes and a wolf like stance. With repeated visits to the property, the geese are scared away. Keep in mind, these dogs are very intelligent and highly trained. Border Collies are instinctive herders and are able to round up the geese and chase them away without harming them. Since the geese are protected by law, it is extremely important that only trained dogs be used in this way. Our dogs will never bite or touch the geese.

Should you Remove Geese Yourself?

You should never attempt to remove geese from property on your own. Not only are these birds protected by law, they are also very protective. They can be quite aggressive when they feel threatened and will attack if provoked. It is important to have the geese removed in a safe and humane way. This is where the dogs come in. Trained dogs are incredibly effective at making geese leave property. After they repeatedly scare the geese enough times, they will leave on their own. In the meantime, do not, under any circumstances, feed the geese. Providing them with food sources will keep them on your property.
